Member Spotlight – March
March 5, 2019
Congratulations to this months Member of the Month, Susanne. This beauty walked through the doors of RiseAbove last summer with her fun loving smile and was ready to start a new regimen. I immediately noticed how she genuinely wanted to work on her but kept self doubting and comparing herself, even after the first class (and she had no reason to as she was working hard, stronger then she thought and was willing to try new things). After a few weeks she soon realized that each one of us is on our own fitness journey and has ran with it. This kick butt lady now sometimes does two classes back to back, encourages others and continues to push limits with her determination. Congrats Susanne on how far you have come, how far you continue to reach for and on being the strong, beautiful woman you are!
My journey began less than a year ago. I walked into the Bolton eye clinic and saw Lorella Fraccaro whom I hadn’t seen in a while. She always looked amazing but this time she was glowing. She was so happy to share with me where she was going to look and feel so healthy. She said the owner Cheri would kick my butt right into shape. I immediately called RiseAbove and Matt answered. It was a Thursday, mid day and he said to come right over. I was literally down the street, the eye clinic and RiseAbove were on the same street. As soon as I walked in Matt brought me to see gym. It was exactly what I was looking for, from the set up, to the cleanliness, and the encouraging sayings on the walls, the huge mirrors, the equipment, it all said give us a try…..so I did, I tried a free week.
I have always been active. When I was younger I did all types of sports and the swim team for my high school years. As I got older I joined a couple of different gyms but always felt a little stupid and insecure. Then as I became a mom I would walk everywhere. To this day I walk 3-5 x’s week in the nicer weather around Ching park in Brampton…
Then I walked into Rise Above…..
I can remember the first class, it was a morning class, there were 6-7 of us, I was the newbie. I felt insecure and shy . Joked a little, but mostly spoke to myself the whole time. Saying self sabotaging things to myself, like, what are you doing here, this is way too hard for me, can’t wait for the class to be over. But then Cheri would come help me , correct me, encouraged me. I felt a sense of calm. If a complete stranger was
believing in me, why wasn’t I able to believe in my self ???
After a couple of weeks of crying in the car on my way home from class, feeling defeated, I reached out by text to Cheri. I explained how I was feeling, she again encouraged me and just said “Keep coming back” and “You know your body, do what you can”, I am so *******glad I listened. Now when I leave my 5th or 6th class a week I say , Bring it on, I am so proud of myself.
I am stronger now than I have been in 20 years. My clothes are getting looser by the day.
When we do the class I am making it to the end and feeling not so winded and weak. I smile….. The members are another HUGE reason that RiseAbove stands out from all other studios. The best group of gals you will ever meet. Funny, hard working. always encouraging and supportive. We all have things in common, mother hood, wife, work etc. I looked forward to who will be sitting on the black couch when I open the door each night before class.
I will be a member for many years to come and look forward to
continuing to challenge myself to feel better inside and out.
